what to expect

During an ABA session, you can expect a structured and individualized approach tailored to your child’s specific needs. We currently accept Sentara Medicaid and Commercial insurance plans.
The session typically involves the components below:

assessment
The behavior analyst will observe and assess your child to learn their behaviors and areas of growth. This may involve conducting a parent interview to hear your concerns and areas of target and observation in the natural environment. This process will then evolve to a treatment plan to create goals to best assist your little one.

parent education
Parent training in ABA teaches caregivers how to use behavior techniques to help their child at home. It includes showing them how to apply these strategies and giving them tips on handling different behaviors. The training also offers ongoing support to make sure they can effectively use what they’ve learned.

behavior intervention

BCBA supervisions
The BCBA will conduct visits to review your child’s progress and make necessary modifications to the treatment plan based on your child’s response. This ensures that the approach remains effective and aligned to meet your little one’s needs.

behavior intervention
The behavior technician works with your child 1:1 and implements specific interventions tailored to teach new skills or modify challenging behaviors. These techniques are evidence-based and focus on positive reinforcement, skill building and modification. Sessions are typically interactive and may include a mix of direct teaching, play-based activities, and skill practice, all aimed at promoting meaningful behavioral and developmental outcomes.
